As a new host we were very unsure of how we were going to adapt to having a young person living in our home.
We can honestly say that at first it was understandably strange. However in a very short space of time it became natural and our young person learned about us as we did them. What helped with the transition was that I could call our SASH worker anytime at all no matter how trivial and they were there with support advice and reassurance. Without their guidance it would have been difficult but it really wasn’t!
Our first hosting experience has been really enjoyable and we feel privileged to have been of help to our young person in their journey.
