Castle to Abbey Coastal Challenge 2024
On Saturday 29th June a group of local people completed an epic 22 mile charity walk from Scarborough Castle to Whitby Abbey organised by (SASH) and outdoor activities company Hiking Adventures. It was great bringing people together whilst supporting the charity!
The 22-mile walk was along the coastal Cleveland Way, starting at Scarborough Castle and finishing at Whitby Abbey. Whilst we’d hoped to spot a glimpse of dolphins out at sea, walking in wooded glades and along rugged clifftops and passing through iconic fishing villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay provided the group scenic views throughout the walk.
Personal Trainer and participant Georgina Brown said prior to the event: “When I found about the walk, I instantly thought that would be a great challenge for myself, and even better if I could get a group together, to help raise money and awareness of the charity along the way. Being a parent myself, I appreciate the hard work the charity does. After mentioning the walk to my clients, we soon had a small group together, and training was underway. Walking is a very underestimated form of exercise and it’s given my clients and I, a goal to work towards.”
Massive well done to everyone who completed the 22 mile walk. Despite the rain, nothing was able to dampen your spirts!
We want to say a HUGE thank you to those who donated money. You all helped raise an amazing £3,269 for SASH! 💚
