Donate to SASH to help us keep young homeless people safe
We need your help now more than ever.
Your donations go directly to helping vulnerable young people in our region.
PLEASE NOTE: If your donation is greater than £1000 please contact fundraising@sash-uk.org.uk before proceeding with your payment. Thank you.
Where does your money go? Let us tell you…
Help us to support local young people facing a homelessness crisis. Your gift will make a huge difference to local young people. Now, more than ever local young people need your help. The pandemic has created uncertain times, especially for young people who need a safe home whilst they rebuild their lives.
● 76% of our income goes to providing our services to vulnerable young people facing homelessness in North and East Yorkshire
● 24% is spent on our support and running costs to deliver our frontline work and fundraise for the services that we provide (including our staff and administration costs)
You can ask for your donation to be spent on a specific aspect of our work and we will do all we can to make sure that’s where it goes.
Ways to help
Donations
- Some supporters have held funeral collections for SASH, or made a donation in memory of a loved-one.
- Others choose to celebrate their wedding, an anniversary or their birthday by asking their friends and family to make a donation to SASH instead of presents.
- You can also donate shares. Donating shares is a simple and tax-effective way of supporting our work. You can find details of how to do this on the ShareGift website, a charity which specialises accepting share donations.
- Leave a gift in your will.
- Sponsor a room
Gifts in kind
We are often asked if we want items for our young people. This very much depends on the items.
- Household goods, including mattresses: unfortunately we do not have the storage space to accommodate lots of household goods. However, if we have a young person about to move into their own home, the item you are offering might be just what they need. Please feel free to contact us to find out.
- Clothing / Sleeping bags: because all of our young people are accommodated in the homes of volunteers, this is not something we can make use of.
- Toiletries and food. We do accept donations of toiletries and non-perishable foods in-date. Please contact us fundraising@sash-uk.org.uk to organise a suitable drop off time.
- Socktober – Many of our service users arrive at SASH after weeks or months of sofa-surfing with limited access to laundry facilities and minimal possessions. A small gesture like a brand new clean pair of socks can really lift a young person’s spirits. Contact us if you wish to donate or become a collection point.
Having the trust and respect of our local communities and businesses is crucial to us and our work. We are committed to ensuring that all fundraising activity is ethically sound and transparent and that we respect donor’s rights.
