Volunteering is crucial to the work that we do here at SASH. Without the support of our fantastic volunteers across all areas of the charity, we wouldn’t be able to continue to support vulnerable young people across North and East Yorkshire.
We have a range of exciting volunteering opportunities as part of our Fundraising Team. These volunteer opportunities are essential to help raise the vital funds that are required to support over 300 vulnerable young people every year.
What you will receive from us:
- Basic induction to SASH
- Full training
- A dedicated volunteer manager/key contact to support you with your role
- Any expenses paid related to your volunteering role with us in line with our policy

Fundraising
Assisting with the local fundraising team, you will be required to take part in a variety of activities such as collections, information days and stalls to raise awareness and funds for SASH

Collection Tin or Hotel Envelope Coordinator
To identify, place and maintain our SASH collection tins or hotel envelopes within your local community
About the opportunity:
- Flexible time commitment
- Great way to work within the local community
- Tins or envelopes to be collected and emptied every 3-6 months and donations brought to the SASH office
- A written record to be kept
- Spotting opportunities for potential new locations for tins or envelopes
- Replacing broken or damaged tins
- Team working with the local fundraising team
- Opportunity to build experience for your CV
Key skills:
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Minimum age 18
Speaker
To deliver talks about SASH to groups, schools and organisations within your local area
About the opportunity:
- Identify new potential leads, follow up and securing of new talks
- Talks to be engaging and natural, highlighting the work that we do and the importance of the charity
- Attending subsequent cheque presentations
- Encouraging local organisations and groups to support and fundraise for SASH
- Ability to present talks to a wide range of various groups within your local community
- Comfortable presenting talks on your own or with a staff member
- Opportunity to build experience for your CV
Key skills:
- Good communication skills
- Warm and friendly
- Able to adapt your talk to your audience
Admin Support
Supporting the office fundraising team with day-to-day administrative tasks
About the opportunity:
- Flexible time commitment and office working hours
- Research for various campaigns
- Sending out relevant literature to potential donors/groups
- Assist with the organisation of fundraising events – collection rotas, packing up resources
- Opportunity to build experience for your CV
Key skills:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team but also independently
- Flexible
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel ideal but not essential
- Able to travel to our York office where the role will be located
- Minimum age 18
